Frequently Asked Questions

The things people ask us most, answered plainly. If yours is not here, ring the workshop and ask — we would rather sort it out before you order.

Materials

Which Materials Do You Fabricate?

We work daily in acrylic and engineering plastics, timber and composite panel, stainless steel, aluminium and mild steel. If you are unsure which substrate suits the job, tell us how the part will be used and we will recommend one.

Can You Tell Me Which Material to Use?

Yes, and we would rather do it before you buy. Describe where the part lives — outdoors, near heat, under impact, in food service, in contact with chemicals — and we will point you at the substrate that survives it rather than the one that is cheapest on the shelf.

Do You Supply the Material or Can I Bring My Own?

Either works. We hold common sheet stock and can order in anything we do not carry. If you supply your own material we will quote for machining only, though we will ask you to allow a little extra for setup and any test cuts.

Timing & Quantities

How Quickly Can a Job Be Turned Around?

Most work leaves the floor in days rather than weeks, and straightforward prototypes are often finished within the same week. Timing depends on the complexity of the part and material availability, and we confirm a date before starting.

Can You Handle Urgent Work?

Often, yes. Because design, programming, cutting and printing all happen in the one building there is no third party holding up the queue. Call us with the deadline first and we will tell you honestly whether it is achievable.

Do You Accept One-Off Pieces and Prototypes?

Yes. We handle single prototypes right through to repeat production runs, and the same process is used either way so your first piece matches the hundredth. There is no minimum order quantity.

Files & Design

What File Formats Do You Accept?

DXF and DWG are ideal for cutting, and AI, EPS or a press ready PDF suit printed artwork. We also work happily from a dimensioned sketch, a photograph or the broken part itself if that is all you have.

Is There a Charge for Design and Programming?

No. Professional graphic design and CAD/CAM machine programming are included with your fabrication job at no extra cost, so there are no hidden line items on the quote.

What Tolerance Can You Hold?

It depends on the process and the material. Routed and laser cut work is accurate enough for parts that must assemble together, while plasma cut plate is a coarser process by nature. Tell us which dimensions are critical and we will confirm what is achievable before quoting.

Finishing & Delivery

Can Artwork Be Printed Straight Onto the Product?

It can. We print directly onto the finished component and also produce print and cut vinyl when a decal or applied graphic is the better option.

Where Are You Located and Do You Deliver?

Our workshop is in Truganina, Victoria and visits are by appointment. Finished work is dispatched anywhere in Australia, and fulfilment options are available if you would like us to ship on your behalf.

How Do I Get a Quote?

Send whatever you have — a drawing, a sketch, a photo or a sample — through the contact form, by email or over the phone, along with the quantity and any deadline. We come back with a price, the process we would use and a realistic finish date.

Still Have a Question?

Ring the workshop or send the details through. A straight answer costs nothing and usually saves money later.
